Improve quality of life by supporting the INUKA Bakery project
Life with a disability is hard in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). You have little value in society and people look down at you. Perhaps your family is willing to care for you if they can afford it. Otherwise you have to beg at the corners of the streets to eat. Finding work is almost impossible. No one hires a disabled person.
The NURU Worshop offers work to people with a disability. Because they are in God’s eyes as valuable as people without disability.
All NURU employees are deaf or disabled but earn their own income. Their life has been given quality again. They can buy their own food, they can marry and live at home instead of on the street.
The workshop has been providing employment and an income for 13 people since it was started in 2007. But the need is much bigger for this kind of employment for disabled people; every month people come to ask for work.
That’s why INUKA, with NURU, now opens a bakery together with the Stichting Brood voor Weeskinderen. It will provide work opportunities for at least another 10-15 people with a disability.
